ADHD Evaluations
An ADHD evaluation is recommended when a patient exhibits persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that interfere with daily functioning at school, home, work, or in social settings. ADHD testing helps provide diagnostic clarity and personalized recommendations for children, adolescents, and adults.
Symptoms of ADHD
We advise scheduling an ADHD evaluation if you or your child demonstrate the following symptoms:
- Difficulty sustaining attention
- Easily distracted or often fidgets
- Often does not follow instructions and fails to complete work or responsibilities
- Difficulty organizing tasks and activities
- Lacks attention to details or makes careless mistakes
- Appears not to listen when spoken to directly
- Avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained attention
- Often loses things necessary for tasks or activities
- Forgetful in daily activities
- Often does not stay seated in situations when remaining seated is expected
- Hyperactivity
- Difficulty engaging in quiet activities
- Talks excessively
- Blurts out an answer before a question has been completed
- Difficulty waiting his or her turn
- Interrupts or intrudes on others
Results of an ADHD Evaluation
Recommendations from an ADHD evaluation may include standardized testing, academic or workplace accommodations, behavioral therapy, executive functioning training, guidance for caregivers or teachers, and a referral for medication evaluation or management.
